How to add a free AI chatbot to your Discord server
Let members chat with Elarix's AI by pinging it. It can see images, translate and moderate. Uses your own free Google Gemini key.
What it does
Ping Elarix, reply to it or say its name and it answers, with some personality. It can look at images, translate messages (right-click → Apps → Translate) and, if you want, check messages with AI moderation.
Set it up
- Get a free API key at Google AI Studio.
- Run /ai key. A private pop-up asks for the key. It's stored encrypted and only used for your server.
- Confirm why Google won't train on your members' messages (for example the key has billing on, or its owner is in the EU, UK or Switzerland). Discord's rules require this, and the pop-up explains the options.
- Turn it on with /ai toggle.
Make it yours
/ai persona adds personality notes. /ai channel makes Elarix answer every message in one channel. /ai limits sets a daily reply cap and a cooldown per member.
Questions
Why do I need my own key?
So your server's AI isn't sharing anyone else's limits, and you stay in control of it. Google's free tier is enough for most servers.
Try it in your server
Elarix is free, takes two clicks to add, and starts with everything switched off.
